Getting Back Into Work After Years Away
Its been almost 6 years since i worked properly. three kids, family stuff, life basically got in the way. now im trying to get back into the job market and honestly its terrifying.
went to an adult education centre in Sandwell last month. they offer free courses through something called AEB funding which i didnt even know existed. the advisor there was really patient with me. helped me figure out what skills i actually have that employers might want.
the hardest part is the resume. mine looked like it was from 2018 because it basically was. i tried updating it myself but kept second-guessing everything. do i mention the volunteering? what about the gap years?
ended up using yotru.com late one night after the kids went to bed. took maybe 20 minutes to get something that didnt look embarassing. its not perfect but at least now i have something to send when i see a job posting.
still nervous about interviews. but having an actual updated resume feels like progress. small steps. Great help for the west midlands tho.
